Arsenal FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
22 years of being a bridesmaid have come to an end. Arsenal are finally Premier League champions again. And deservedly so. Whether you like them or not is irrelevant, you have to admit that even though decisions went their way for most of the season, they were still the best team. Declan Rice just looks better every week, Gyokeres pitched in with 21 goals in all competitions, a return far healthier than some were predicting, and Eberechi Eze slotted into the side like he'd been a part of the group for years.
Now, we've done the positives, let's talk about VAR. It has to be said, the Gunners experienced a season of decisions going their way like nothing we've ever seen before. The sheer volume created a 20 minute 'highlights' clip that went viral. None of us can say we wouldn't take those calls if they went our way though.
One major decision didn't go their way though. And it came in the Champions League final. Swings and roundabouts? Eventually they lost to PSG on penalties. A cruel way for any team to lose a major final.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
Defending champions and comfortably favourites for the title this time around. AI predict them to win it, the bookies say they'll have too much and I think everyone bar the staunch Arsenal haters think, they'll be just too good for the rest. The thing is, they rely a lot on the likes of Rice, Saliba and Saka. During the World Cup Saliba sustained a bad back injury and neither Rice nor Saka were anywhere near their best. Declan suffering with an injury he'd already carried through most of the last campaign.
At time of writing, Christos Tzolis, a £40m acquisition from Club Brugge, was the Gunners only signing. Leandro Trossard is the only notable departure. An £18m bid from Besiktas enough to tempt the club and the player. Trossard had a good 25/26 and performed well for Belgium at the World Cup so it came as a bit of a surprise to see him leave.
Court Offside Tip
I've got them to finish 2nd. But, I'm expecting a really close run title race this season which may even feature more than just two teams. For now though, I'm going with the Gunners to get pipped to the title. I don't think there's any value in betting on them to finish second and actually it's only just over evens for them to win the title. I prefer 1/2 on them to win any of the 4 major trophies they're contesting this season. They're too good to win nothing. They could win 2 or 3.
