Wolverhampton Wanderers FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
Most people expected a serious relegation battle to take place at Molineux in 25/26. In reality there was very little fight, as they finished bottom with just three wins all season and they return to the Championship after 8 years in the top flight. Wolves first win was on January 3rd, their top scorer bagged just 3 goals and the men tied with the most assists returned just 2 of those.
When you see those stats, it's difficult to imagine how they could finish anywhere but 20th.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
Cesar Peixoto is the newly-appointed manager and the Portuguese has wasted no time in trying to assemble a few good, experienced players to help with the clubs immediate return to the top flight.
Keiran Trippier and Raul Jimenez are the two stand out signings and both have a lot left to give. Jimenez was frankly awesome to watch at the World Cup and it was great to see as I think we all felt sorry for him after the injury he suffered a few years ago at Arsenal. Nice to see him back at his best. Joao Gomes moves across Birmingham leaving Wolves to join Villa in a £40m deal. Inevitable he would leave but a shame nonetheless. A couple more arrivals are needed in my opinion but they're in a good place.
Court Offside Tip

They've bought wisely and the experience will go a long way in the Championship. On paper they should be challenging West Ham for the title but nothing's won on paper is it. The Championship is arguably the strongest it has ever been this season but that's also why we're seeing 13/8 available on promotion. Worth a go in my opinion.
