Stevenage FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
Despite starting the campaign as 50/1 outsiders for the title and being expected to struggle, Alex Revell's only dropped out of the top 10 on one occasion all season long. At the end of November they sat atop the division and despite a dip in form through February and March, lost just one of their last nine games to scrape their way into the play off picture on the final day.
Back to back defeats in the semi finals to Stockport County put paid to any hopes of promotion but it was still a stellar 2025/26 for the men from the Lamex.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
When you remember that Stevenage have one of the lowest budgets in the division you have to say they over achieved last season. But they made the Lamex a really difficult place to go and if they can continue with their home form, there's no reason to believe they couldn't replicate that play off finish.
However, with a few of the first team players already having left for pastures new, the eyes are firmly fixed on who they manage to bring in. Terry Taylor is a solid defensive midfielder but they'll need to add 5 or 6 more players if they're hoping to beat a mid table finish.
Court Offside Tip
After a simply sparkling 25/26, there's a real optomism and hope around the club, but I don't expect them to replicate it this time out. However, a top 10 finish is not to be sniffed at for a club of this size and 10th is exactly where I see them ending up this time out. If you're looking for a bet, they're 8/11 to finish higher than Leyton Orient which I think is a banker.
