Swansea City AFC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions
Reviewing 2025/26
A comfortable mid table season at the Swansea.com stadium, never troubling the top six or the trap door. At 28/1 pre season, bookies clearly didn't think they had enough to mount a promotion charge, but knew they had too much to go down. And so it proved.
They did make it to round four of the EFL Cup though, knocking out Nottingham Forest 3-2 from 2-0 down, contributing to poor Ange Postecoglu getting the sack after just 39 days as manager of the Garibaldis. The Swans Cup run was halted by eventual winners Manchester City.
Looking ahead to 2026/27
It's a first full season under Vitor Matos' management, and the Portuguese earned plenty of praise for his style of play in South Wales from his November arrival onwards.
There's been plenty of transfer activity with Galbraith leaving for £11.66m and Joseph Opoku, Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo and Leo Walta all arriving for a total sum of around £21.5m. If the transfer window shuts and Zan Vipotnik is still a Swansea player I'll be very suprised, but if it does, they could have a strong season.
Court Offside Tip
This could be miles out. The bookies have them at 50/1 for the title but look at the transfer business over the summer. They have no intention of finishing low down the table. I've got them 15th, mainly because of the strength of the division this year, but make no mistake, if the Swans start well, they could be in the play off mix. I'll be watching their results over the first few games with a view to an outside bet of making the top 8.
