Cambridge United FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

Predicted by many to struggle, the Amber Army proved everybody wrong and with the exception of Bromley, arguably put up the performance of the season. 13th was the lowest position they fell into throughout the campaign and from game week 13 onwards they only looked up moving into the Play Offs by Christmas and top 4 by the start of February.

Despite finishing with just 2 wins from the final 8 games, they limped over the line and return to League One at the first time of asking.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

The singing of Callum Stead from Barnet is an excellent addition after his 17 goal involvements last season and the U's will be hoping to see something similar next season. He's joined through the door by Patrick Bauer and Isaac Heath, but you have to say they look a bit light on the ground.

Early predicitons are tipping Cambridge to struggle badly. I don't think they're far away from producing a side capable of far better but, as things stand, they need more.

Court Offside Tip

After just about limping to promotion, I think they'll limp their way back down into League Two unfortunately for the U's fans. 7/4 on that happening suggests the bookies feel they may just have enough to escape and they might, but I'll take the value.
