Tranmere Rovers FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

What has happened to Tranmere over the last 10 or so years? I remember as a kid growing up watching them get to League Cup finals and Challenging the countries elite in the FA Cup. It's sad to see them struggling. Having already been out of the Football League in recent years they were tipped to finish bottom by numerous journalists last term, eventually surviving on the final day.

They conceded 79 goals in 46 league games. The worst in the division.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

The bookies have Rovers down as 5th favourites for relegation and it's difficult to make a case against that.

Positive moves in the transfer market though. A lot of older pro's have now been released, whilst 6 players have arrived at Prenton Park, all of which look like good additions to the squad. Some cautious optomism amongst the fans though I think another 3 or 4 signings are needed to make progress.

Court Offside Tip

I've always had a soft spot for Tranmere and I really don't know why. They're just a club I like to see do well. And they haven't for some time now. I do think there'll be a small but positive improvement at Prenton Park this time out though. I've got them to finish 16th and comfortably away from the relegation zone.
