Sheffield United FC - 2026/27 Preview and Predictions

Reviewing 2025/26

After amassing a whopping 90 points in the 24/25 season and still missing out on promotion, you had the feeling that this wasn't going to be a great campaign at Bramall Lane. The disappointment that the players and staff must've been feeling will have been immense, and so it proved. Bottom after 9 games and despite stringing a few results together, they never reached into the top half, finishing 13th.

Gustavo Hamer and Callum O'Hare still produced impressive stats of 35 goal contributions combined however.

Looking ahead to 2026/27

Chris Wilder has signed a contract extension this summer and honestly, it's the best thing that could have happened. His tenures haven't been terrible at all and yet he's currently over-seeing his third spell as manager. Tie him in to a long contract, show commitment and let him build.

It's been a slow start to the transfer window for the Blades although a number of players have left the club. Most of them needed to go in order to build the wage budget and free up funds to buy, but it's important that they do add 3 or 4 new faces by the time the Championship kicks off.

Court Offside Tip

Ok, they were poor last time out, but there's a team in there, with a good manager and a great fan base. 5/4 represents value for a top 8 finish in my book and the team certinly merit my backing.
